Discovering House Sitting

At the beginning of this year I was traveling with my mom, our two cats and our dog in our converted van around the South of Argentina. Around March our path took us to Mendoza where we stayed for a while in the house of a friend, but all along I felt like something was missing from my life. One night I sat in front of my computer and started a search to see how much it would cost me to go from there to Bs.As. After a few days thinking about it, I talked it over with my mom and decided that going back there would be the best for me in the long run. When I arrived there I felt lost and sad, because I had changed so much in the time I was away from the city life.
I was able to stay with my sister and even when I was extremely happy with her for letting me stay at her place I still felt out of sorts. I spent a month feeling like a ghost of my true self. Being back made me feel younger than I'm in a weird way, I felt like a little girl needing the guidance and love of her family, a sentiment that I had left behind when I moved away from my old life in the city.

It took a while to find my self againg, but eventually I did. One day my sister and I went to see our aunts and uncles and it was during a talk about what I wanted to do that one of my aunts told me about the existence of something that changed everyhting for me. I was saying how much I wanted to travel more and see new places but that getting the money for the places I wanted to see would be difficult when one of my aunts told me about House Sitting. Before that day I didn't knew about the existence of this, but at the end of day I sat myself in front of my computer and started reading everything and anything that I could find about this new word. It took me a while to decide if it was the right option for me, but eventually I decided to take the plunge.

At the end of May I created a profile in a house sitting site and before I knew it I was selling, donating and buying different things to start my new adventure. During all that time my dad, my sister and my mom (who was also back and planning her own journey) were a big help. The hardest part was finding new homes for our dog and cat and saying goodbye to them, but I knew that it was the best because the alternative of traveling with them hopping from place to place was to much. After lots of arrangments I was ready and before June ended I was taking a plane to Spain to meet up with a great couple that I had met thanks to the house sitting site and that were extremely happy to have me in their home.

The next months where a constant adventure. I became a sitter for 4 beautiful cats and a nice home, got my second tattoo, finished writing a book (that I had started back in 2014) and decided what would be next for me. Now as I'm sitting writing this post and thinking back to everything that happened in the last few months I'm so happy that I took this chance and that my aunt showed me this great way of traveling because without that knowledge I might not be where I'm today.

If you read all of this thank you and here's to you, I hope all your dreams come true and that one day you find how to expand your own wings
